Alex's teachers are really talented. They send these little backpacks home with the students, filled with a book and several activities for the child and a parent. Alex loves them!
The backpack also included a little song to sing. Alex insisted on performing for the camera:
Way up high in the apple tree, two little apples smiled at me. I shook that tree as hard as I could. Down came the apples.... Mhmmm were they good!

Back to School
Tomorrow will officially be the two-week anniversary of the first day of the 2010-11 school year, so it is high time for a Back to School post. The morning officially started when we all went downstairs and examined Alex's schultuete.
... to be continued.

First Day of School
Yesterday was the first day of school for Henry and Max. They are in Pre-K, or as Max likes to say "Play-School". They woke up to discover a German tradition, the Schultüte. It is a decorated cone with school supplies, candy, chocolate, and some little gifts. They loved their new transformers!

While we were eating breakfast Alex woke up and realized he wasn't getting a gift.

Sophie is in the 4th grade this year and loves being the one to show the boys everything. She was the one to decorate the Schultuete for the boys, she loves a good surprise! She is the best at getting them excited about school because she loves it so much. The last two days, she has gotten them up and picked their clothes out as well as brushed their teeth.
We went to school on the golf cart, Alex walked into school like he owned it. He was used to the school from going there 3 times a week for Max's speech last year. Sophie led the way.

After we said our goodbyes, I had to go back to give the boys their mats that I picked up at the school office. While I was writing their names on them, I heard Max start to cry. I turned around and saw Alex with his hands in fists. I thought he hit Max, but then learned Alex bit him! What a way to start the first day of school!
Herb planned for a late lunch at home and we met them at the bus stop when they came home, they loved school. I am excited for them and all that they will be experiencing.

This morning at 7am, it was time to leave for the bus and Henry spilled milk on the table, floor and himself. It was so much that I had to change all of his clothes. Needless to say they missed the bus and Herb brought them to school.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring!!!

home with the boys
This is my first, official blog entry.!
So, Sophie is at her second day at school and I am alone with the boys. I took them to the park early, and there were quite a few men there with their grandchildren and children. Henry, I guess he misses his dad, insisted on talking to all the men. Not just a hello, but a full conversation of all the things he wanted to say....
"I like Lightening McQueen; my mommy's name is Mommy, but my Papi calls her Elizabeth; your little girl's name is Mia, I know a big girl named is Mia....."
Max wanted to swing in the handicapped swing, then he joined the conversations with Henry.
Alex just wanted to climb on everything that was not age appropriate so I had to follow him, I really miss Sophie today! She loves to take care of Alex at the park unless, of course, she is conversing with the adults or making new friends.
