At first I parked stateside and walked a couple hundred yards to a lookout directly by the falls (not the fancy bridge looking one). I made the mistake of leaving my gloves in the car, as it didn't feel cold at all where I parked, just a bit windy. When I finally had made it to the falls, I realized that all the mist was blowing my direction, all the grass, trees and walkways were completely frozen and right in that spot it was BITTER cold! Oh my hands hurt so bad! Even my digital camera gave out and wouldn't take any pictures.
I decided to drive to the Canadian side. Much nicer, the sun came out, no mist, not a lot of wind and I was able to take a snapshot with my phone at least!

- Poutine
French fries with cheese curds and gravy, unusual but tasty. Just don't eat it every day. I also had a delicious burger at the same place, C & Dubbs Hamurgers. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had on a delicious toasted (!) bun. - "Real" Snow
Not a lot, but enough to stay on the ground for longer than 24 hours. Of course my morning commute went from less than 10 minutes to just over 30 minutes, one accident after another. Seems even in Canada people don't know how to drive in the snow. - People
Everybody was super nice, friendly and helpful. They just don't say "Y'all" or call you "Honey". - Special Candy
Brought back several good candy bars for the kids and even some Kindereier! I also got a small bag of Ketchup chips, but luckily nobody my house likes them, so they are all mine! For those of you who don't know, I'm a full fledged member of Ketchup Anonymous, but that's a whole other story.
Niagara Falls is amazing. I went once but we couldn't find parking. Half of us jumped out of the car and spent only as much time as it took the car to drive around the block a few times and then we switched. One day we'll go back. lacey

ReplyDeleteWell, there was plenty of parking when I went last Sunday, but now I realize why! Who wants to stand there in freezing temperatures and take a photo? There were only about 4-5 other crazy people.
ReplyDeleteI've always heard that the Canadian side of the Falls is best. What's wrong with us Americans?!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice trip.
