Christmas Visit at Mom and Dad's

We went to see Mom and Dad, along with Sabine. Aunt Maryann and Aunt Ruth also came over, as well as David and his family. Aunt Angel had flown in from Idaho with her roommate Lisa.

While everybody was chitchatting, Max found a piece of Mom's hidden Dove chocolate inder the computer table. I told him to take it up to Grandma. Mom thought she had hidden it safely away in an inconspicuous place. Apparently a chocolate bandit was on the loose.

Later while we were all in the formal living room, talking about next year's Christmas Family vacation at Disney World, a piece of chocolate mysteriously appears between two couch cushions. Mom made everybody get up and look under the couch cushions for more pieces. Somebody pulled out two silver wrappers, one full, one empty and exclaimed loudly "Look, Pop Tarts!"

Mom without hesitation announced loudly to the room for everybody to hear "No, those aren't Pop Tarts, they are Dad's Prostate Bars!" Imagine the horror in some people's eyes and the tears of laughter on others'.

Next we were opening presents. Everybody was excited to share the Christmas Joy. Aunt Maryann received a special three package "Past, Present and the Future" present from Ruth. The past was a "Goonies" DVD and Maryann's favorite childhood Candy "Orange Slices". The present was a pair of Potato Peeling Gloves (you gotta see it to believe it) and the future was a jealousy inducing (for Sophie at least) cute little tea set for two....

When we were done with that, Aunt Angel shrieked "Oh my gosh, what is that up there?" Meagan and Amanda had found an old ornament that Angel had made when she was a little child and hung it from the top of the tree. Everybody had wondered how long it would take her to see it.

Just before we left, Dad came back in the room and said that he had had four of his special treats. He had eaten two, but only one was left. He hoped that whoever had snacked on it was a boy. Max piped up "Oh, I had one of those!"

Never boring at the Martin house, is it?
